Nestled in the heart of Mountain View, Specialty's Café & Bakery offers a delightful blend of sandwich shop charm and breakfast restaurant warmth with a sophisticated edge. This vibrant spot is a haven for anyone craving freshly prepared, high-quality meals paired with expertly crafted coffee.
The café’s menu features standout dishes that are both comforting and elevated. For breakfast lovers, the Sausage and Egg Breakfast Sandwich and the Bacon Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich deliver a perfect balance of savory flavors layered between freshly baked breads. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, the Cinnamon Roll and Assorted Breakfast Pastries offer melt-in-your-mouth textures with just the right touch of sweetness. Specialty's signature Semi Sweet Chocolate Chip Cookie and the intriguingly fresh Spinach Berry Goat Cheese Salad, praised by customers for its vibrant flavor combinations, showcase the kitchen’s commitment to variety and quality.
The sandwich selection is equally tempting – the Hot Pastrami & Swiss and the Turkey Sandwich with Cheddar feature hearty, satisfying fillings perfect for a midday meal. For those who appreciate something a bit more creative, the Roasted Beet with Goat Cheese offers a delightful balance of earthy and creamy notes. These recipes cater to a wide range of tastes, from classic comfort food to more adventurous palates.
Beyond the food, Specialty’s expansive café environment supports a lively yet cozy dining atmosphere. Spacious enough to accommodate both solo visitors and groups, the venue is thoughtfully designed with wall outlets and USB chargers at every turn, making it an ideal spot for business lunches, casual meetings, or a productive café study session. As one regular pointed out, its proximity to cultural landmarks such as Moffett Field Museum complements the eatery’s convenience for those on the go.
Specialty's also shines in its beverage offerings—highlighted by smooth Peets Coffee, robust dark roasts, and creative iced tea lemonades like the Mango Sunrise and Hibiscus Berry Splash. The Dark Chocolate Mochaccino is a decadent choice for coffee connoisseurs seeking rich layers of flavor.
While the pricing sits on the higher end, reflecting Mountain View’s premium market, the portion sizes and quality justify the investment, making each visit worthwhile. Customer feedback reflects overall satisfaction, with particular praise for the freshness and deliciousness of the salads and breakfast sandwiches, though some have noted minor inconsistencies like an unusual aftertaste in certain pastries.
In all, Specialty's Café & Bakery stands out as a dependable destination to enjoy expertly crafted breakfast and lunch fare, artisanal pastries, and premium coffee in a welcoming and functional space. Whether you're grabbing a quick sandwich, indulging in a rich pastry, or settling in for a business meeting, this spot offers a well-rounded experience that keeps patrons returning time and time again.
Wonderful treats. Really loved the spinach and egg croissant - hot and fresh. The apple twist was nice overall but had a strange aftertaste.
The spinach berry & goat cheese salad was fresh and delicious.
Chinese Chicken Salad...pretty good, just wish there was more chicken on it. It's a big salad so you'll need an extra dressing.
Okay, so I thought all of the Specialty's closed, I was definitely surprised when a friend said let's go to this one, lol. Overall it wasn't bad and I am glad that I was able to go again because it's been many years since I've been to some of the other locations, I used to visit the ones in downtown San Jose. Anyway, this was pretty solid, but I'd say not as good as I remember. Prices are (as with everything) up across the board and I felt like the return of investment isn't as good here as it used to be, especially since you have to buy everything a la carte. Overall, I'd come back if I wanted a sandwich in the area, but I feel like I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Maybe a solid 3.5, IMO.
Good location to grab a sandwich and coffee if heading to Moffitt Field museum. The cafe is big and set up to do a lot of catering. However, if you need a place to go to study or have a business lunch, then this place is set up for that. Every wall had an outlet or USB charger. The food was good and the right portion size. It is on the pricy side but also matches the bay high area costs for everything. The turkey, pulled chicken and turkey and cranberry sandwiches had good flavor, and the froccasia bread was soft. The bakery items we got were good but did not stand out from other bakerys we been too.
Wonderful friendly staff. Super clean, beautiful ambiance. Food is delicious and so is the coffee. The patio is beautiful. I will definitely be coming back soon! It’s a great family friendly place where you can watch the vta from the window. Parking is very easy as it has its own lot that includes designated curbside pickup areas.
LOVED Specialty’s when I worked downtown SF- was thrilled to find this location. Parking is ample, lots of space to sit indoors & out w good lighting. Peet’s coffee shop in shared space is fire. Thai spicy salad was good - just not outstanding. I think I’ll stick the sandwiches for future lunches. My fave cookie is wheat germ chocolate chip. They had a good selection of baked good even just 2 hrs before closing. Also some day old 50% off. Service was super fast, friendly
Love ALL of the menu options and seasonal baked goods! Specialty's is the best. You can order in advance and pick up your order or enjoy it there. Peet's coffee bar inside the restaurant. My two worlds collide!
